Ionic contamination is a critical factor that can adversely affect the functionality and durability of electronic boards. At Prime, we have equipped ourselves with suitable tools for the quantitative measurement of any contaminants present. It is an instrument called an Ionograph, a system produced by Gen3 to provide an accurate analysis and reliable.
Thorough cleaning of printed circuits, both bare (PCB) and assembled (PCBA), is an extremely important factor. A problem due to processing residues that can compromise the functionality and longevity of electronic devices. During the processing and assembly phases, traces of substances such as salts and flux activators may remain, which, if present in certain quantities, can create insulation and/or corrosion problems and, in humid environments, lead to the formation of dendrites.
Prime Elettronica, to perform quantitative analyses, uses the Gen3 CM33+ Ionograph/contaminometer, a high-precision instrument that combines a solution of deionized water and isopropyl alcohol (IPA) to extract and measure the amount of halides present on the boards. This method, called Resistivity of Solvent Extract (ROSE), is a standard developed in the United States.
Our testing procedures follow IPC standards, ensuring a detailed and accurate analysis of ionic contamination, both for bare PCBs and assembled boards (PCBA).
As a solution provider in the field of printed circuit boards and electronic board assembly, Prime Electronics is dedicated to guiding customers through a complete and correct analysis of all aspects related to ion contamination, offering accurate and timely answers.
